Our skin is the most vulnerable part of the body, therefore it needs extra care as it is the most exposed part of our body. But the irony is, we fail to give that much needed focus on our skin. Essential oils have come as a blessing to get rid of the various skin disorders and to maintain the natural look of our skin. We’ve listed some essential oils that are beneficial for our skin.

Effective Essential Oils For Skin:

Lavender Essential Oil: Lavender is a herb that has medicinal properties and is best used for issues like anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, headache and pain. The flavour has also led the F&B industry to infuse the herb in cuisines. It is used as a fragrance in many perfumes, soaps, cosmetics and decorations as well. The real fact about lavender is that it contains an oil that has sedative effects and that is the reason why it is mostly used to relax the mind and body in cases of insomnia, stress and depression. It seems to have anti-bacterial and anti-fugal properties. Lavender is possibly used in cases of hair loss, anxiety, sore swellings and pain, menstrual pain and pain after surgery. Highly effective for the mind and body, this essential oil is a blessing.

Lemongrass Essential Oil: This essential oil has analgesic, antidepressant, antimicrobial, antipyretic, antiseptic, astringent, bactericidal, carminative, fungicidal and nervine properties. The oil is obtained through a distillation process from dried lemongrass. Lemongrass has a citrusy flavour and also tastes like lemon. It is used in numerous beverages like tea, desserts and other culinary creations and like lavender oil, this essential oil is also used in adding a tangy flavour to different delicacies. It is widely used in Chinese and Thai recipes. It is mostly used to get rid of pain, reduce depression, inhibit microbial growth, lowers fever, to heal wounds, removing flatulence, as a deodorant, to stimulate urination, to fight infection, cure fungal infection and many more. It is also used as a health tonic for the proper functioning of the respiratory, digestive, nervous and excretory system and boost the immune system as a whole.

Chamomile Essential Oil: As the name suggests, the chamomile essential oil is extracted from the chamomile plant. It has numerous medicinal benefits and possess properties that are extremely beneficial to develop the mind and body. It helps to remove the toxic substances from the body and prevents the body from infections. Herbal infusions with chamomile flavour is also available in the market that helps to release the stress after a long day. It helps to relieve depression and even smelling these oils can help people overcome insomnia and depression. As a result it helps people to keep a calm on their anger and enjoy complete relaxation. Consuming chamomile is also beneficial in improving digestion and increase the secretion of hydrochloric acid, bile and enzymes in the stomach. This essential oil is also beneficial in the treatment of various skin issues and helps to treat rheumatism.

Tea Tree Essential Oil: Tea tree essential oil is an origin from Australia which should never be swallowed. The oil contains antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and antifungal properties. It helps to treat acne and pimples, head lice, athlete’s foot and contact dermatitis. As this essential oil has anti-inflammatory properties, in helps to reduce swelling and inflammation. It helps to kill bacteria and fungi and helps prevent certain viruses. Research has also found that tea tree oil is beneficial in the treatment of dandruff.

Rosemary Essential Oil: Rosemary essential oil has a woody aroma and even though it is widely known for its food seasonings, it also has numerous medicinal properties that should not be looked back. It helps to improve brain functioning. Simply smelling of rosemary helps to enhance the quality of memory and also treat cases of dementia. It is also essential in improving the growth of the hair and reduce itchiness on the scalp. As it has anti-inflammatory properties so it helps to alleviate the pain and swelling. Beneficial in releasing stress, rosemary essential oil is effective in reducing anxiety and depression.

Ways To Use them For Facial Skin:

Directly On The Face: As per the skin issue, specific essential oil can be dabbed on to the affected area that will help the skin to retain the moisture and get rid of the facial problem. Some people have sensitive skin so the dabbing of the essential oil directly on the face would aggravate the skin issue. So a carrier oil like coconut oil can be used in order to mix few drops of the essential oil and then applied on the face.

Mixing With A Carrier Oil: Carrier oils are used in order to dilute the essential oil for people who have sensitive skin. Sometimes the oil tends to be strong which might not be effective for people with sensitive skin. Carrier oil acts as a diluting agent that pacifies the extremities of the essential oil and in addition to it, they also acts as a booster to provide the natural glow in the skin.

Keeping It Overnight: In cases of acne and pimples, the essential oil is required to be dabbed on the affected area and kept it overnight. This helps to replenish the skin all through the night and fade away the spots and acne till the next morning. It gives a natural glow and allows the affected areas to heal.

In Face Packs: Essential oils can be mixed with natural face packs that helps to keep the skin hydrated as well as nourished. Face pack is an essential step in enhancing the beauty of the skin. It helps to get rid of the pollutants and restore the natural oil content in the face so that the facial skin does not dry out. Adding few drops of any soothing essential oil in the face pack is an advantage.

As A Face Mist: Essential oils can be mixed with rose water as a toner or a face mist that helps to keep the skin nourished fresh. Rose water can be used as a face mist before applying any make-up or after a clean-up session. And in this rose water, few drops of essential oil can be mixed to give in the extra oomph and radiance.
